Kathleen Ready has extensive experience in all aspects of commercial property, residential property and planning law particularly:

• Acquisition and disposal of high rise commercial buildings, industrial property, development sites, medical centres, retail shopping centres, ‘strip malls’ and associated businesses.
• Negotiating complicated development agreements, delivery agreements, joint venture agreements and construction contracts.
• Advising on the structuring of the development of commercial, residential, industrial and retail property, construction finance, reconfiguration of land and body corporate restructuring and all associated documentation such as mortgage documentation, building management statements and community management statements.
• Advising on and ensuring compliance with the Property Agent and Motor Dealers Act, Land Sales Act, the Body Corporate and Community Management Act and other consumer protection legislation.
• Advising on GST and Transfer Duty implications on the sale and acquisition of property and businesses.
• Advising on the applicability of the managed investment provisions of the Corporations Act to property transactions.
• Consulting and negotiating with local councils in obtaining development approvals in accordance with the Sustainable Planning Act. Ensuring compliance with any decision notice in the development of property.
• Advising body corporate managers and service providers on a number of issues including:
  • debt recovery from lot owners;
  • advising on the sale of strata management rights; and
  • advising and assisting in dispute resolution between lot owners and the body corporate.
• Advising retail, commercial and industrial landlords and tenants in relation to a wide range of leasing matters including the negotiation of general lease terms, rent reviews, option terms and special conditions.
• Advising clients on the compulsory acquisitions of their land and negotiating with the resuming authority for compensation under the Acquisition of Land Act.
• Advising applicants and respondents in the Planning and Environment Court.

Her experience extends to Commercial Litigation.

Bachelor of Nursing (Australian Catholic University)
Juris Doctor (University of Queensland)
Admitted as a Solicitor in the High Court of Australia, Queensland and Victoria
